Author Biography

Michael Horowitz

Michael Horowitz is visiting lecturer in social science at the University of Waikato. Over the past three years, he has been visiting academic at Te Tumu at the University of Otago, the Center for Pacific Islands Studies at the University of Hawaii, and the department of sociology at the University of Canterbury. At Tonga’s ‘Atenisi Institute in the late 1990s, Dr Futa Helu appointed him associate university dean ... and Dr Horowitz served a decade later as university dean during the founder’s final years. Prior to initiating his academic career in the U.S., Dr Horowitz directed community relations for Portland Youth Advocates in the Pacific Northwest.
